Lush landscapes. Burned soil. This land holds a collective memory.
Our history. Our identity.
DEADLINE (Extended): NOV 10, 2019
Nine: This Land is an open call that asks visual artists and writers to consider what This Land means to them. You are invited to interpret the theme as you see fit. Simply submit your best work that depicts how you see the land on which you live.
Nine: This Land will be juried by Samantha Bates, MFA. Bates was raised in Western Washington, and spent her childhood running through the trails of Olympic National Park. Landscape shapes and influences her work as she evokes a feeling, an uncovering from the viewer. "The work is about glimpses, impressions that build to an awakening at the edges of recollection," Bates says. And in her work the viewer recognizes the familiar, yet must accept the intangible.
